چکیده

E. Tillová, L. Kuchariková, M. Chalupová, J. Belan, A. Vaško, I. Švecová, University of Žilina, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Slovak Republic This work is focused on the effect of the laser surface treatment (laser power 50 and 80 W) on microstructure and corrosion properties of self-hardened AlZn10Si8Mg cast alloy used for engine and vehicle constructions. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) technique and Nyquist plots in a 1M NaCl test solution at 20 °C were carried out. A detailed corrosion study showed that corrosion resistance samples with laser layer were marginally less; probably the presence of chloride ions significantly damaged the Al2O3 film and caused the formation of NaAlO2.

PLASTIC DEFORMATION BEHAVIOUR AT THE WORN SURFACE OF NOVEL CAST AL-ALLOY-TICP COMPOSITE

An AI-7wt%Si-5vol%TiCp was worn against a cast iron disc in a tri-pin-on-disc machine, under dry sliding conditions at the sliding speed of 0.24 m/s and applied loads of 6, 20 and 40 N/pin. Stress-strain (`3-^9) curves were constructed by measuring the microhardness and the equivalent strain gradients in near surface regions on the cross-sectional surface prepared parallel to sliding direction....

EFFECTS OF HOT ISOSTATIC PRESSING ON THE TENSILE PROPERTIES OF A356 CAST ALLOY

The influences of age hardening and HIP (Hot Isostatic Pressing) on the mechanical properties of A356 (Al 7Si 0.6 Mg) casting alloys were studied. Cast bars were homogenized, heated and maintained at a temperature of 540°C for a duration of 2 hours, followed by rapid cooling in a polymeric solution. The castings were age hardened at 180°C for a duration of 4 hours before being subjected to HIP ...

THE INFLUENCE OF DRY SLIDING ON PRCIPITATION HARDENING BEHAVIORS OF Al-Cu-Si ALLOY

Abstract: Cold working performed before an aging treatment has a significant effect on size and amount of precipitate produced. This could be caused by the increase in defect density, such as vacancies and dislocations. In this research, the Al-Cu-Si alloy was solution-treated, wear-tested and then artificially aged for a period of 1–5 h. Changes in the amount of precipitate, in the lattice par...

THE EFFECT OF CRYOLITE NA3ALF6 AND SODIUM FLUORIDE NAF ON THE CORROSION AND WETTING BY MOLTEN AL-SI ALLOY OF ANDALUSITE BASED REFRACTORIES

In order to improve the corrosion resistance of aluminosilicate refractories by molten aluminum, alkaline fluoride NaF and cryolite Na3AlF6 powders were studied. Both physical and chemical properties are known to influence wetting and corrosion behavior. This paper devoted to determine the influence of alkaline fluoride and cryolite added to andalusite based castable on the reaction with a...

The Effect of Artificial Aging Treatment and Lubrication Modes on the Cutting Force and the Chip Surface Morphology when Drilling Al-Si-Mg (A356) Cast Alloys

This article reports the effects of various artificial aging methods and lubrication modes (dry, mist, wet) on the recorded cutting forces and chip morphology in drilling Al-Si-Mg (A356) cast alloys. In the course of this work, the work part sampled were as-received alloy (T0), solution heat-treated alloy (SHT) and then aged alloys at 155°C, 180°C, and 220°C (T4, T6, T61, T7), respectively. The...
